About us

A custodian’s job: to look after what you’ve built, for as long as you need it.

We are a client-centred financial planning firm with over 14 years of experience supporting Indian families in India and abroad. Our mission is to help you build a secure financial future so you can live the life you want, with peace of mind.

Our story

From a garage office to a thriving practice — by referral.

Like everyone else, we started small. In 2012 we worked out of our 2.5 BHK in Mumbai, and about thirty of our friends kindly agreed to give us a chance. Our first office was, in fact, a garage.

Once we had a critical mass, we shared plenty of personal finance content on LinkedIn. In the process we met interesting families, and they agreed to move from free content to a fee-paying engagement. Then we reached a hundred families. Then the law of referral took over.

We look at where you are, help you see the good and not-so-good parts, and work with you to build a roadmap. We take a metrics-based approach and offer grounded advice. We work with many senior corporate executives, and our engagements are designed to be long-term — our biggest contribution is often simply being beside clients through turbulent times.

As financial planners, we see our role as that of a custodian. That means taking care that the products in your portfolio are suitable for you, choosing service partners who share our standards, hiring only qualified and ethical people, and working with families whose needs fit what we do best.

Vision

To be India’s most trusted and customer-centric financial planning firm.

The team

The people who will know your plan.

PAIA: Persons Associated with an Investment Adviser — team members who provide advice and hold the NISM certifications SEBI requires.

How we are organised

One firm, two registrations, kept strictly apart.

GYR Financial Planners Private Limited is registered with SEBI as a Non-Individual Investment Adviser (INA000015996) and with AMFI as a mutual fund distributor (ARN-96717).

We keep the two strictly apart at the client level. A family is either an advisory client or a distribution client — never both for the same investments — and we tell every family which one they are before we begin.

“What you’re paying for when you hire an advisor is not information — you can get that anywhere. You’re paying for experience. I’ve been there in bad weather and know how to make a safe landing.”
